““The Local Original: World music on the rise By Tim Sukits, Herald-Tribune / Tuesday, February 28, 2012 Sarasota has a deep and storied past when it comes to the genre of world music, and some of the musicians that have contributed to this vast history will be reuniting and blazing new trails throughout this next month. One of the most successful world music acts with roots in the area has been Willie and Lobo, a flamenco-based duet composed of Willie Royal on violin and Wolfgang “Lobo” Fink on guitar. Probably even more significant is who will follow the quartet at Ceviche, as the original members of The Lotus Fire have decided to reunite after nearly a decade hiatus from regular gigging. The band had been a Sarasota staple in the early 2000s, occasionally inviting Royal to sit in for epic dueling violin sessions with Lotus founder and fellow violin virtuoso Keven Aland. Such momentous jams are sure to ensue as a result of this long-awaited reunion. ””
